What History Does Air Have Left?

I hope you do not mind the history of Nike Air Max but it is something that must be said. Nike introduced its Air Cushioning Technology in 1979. By embedding Air Cushioning in the midsoles of its running shoes, it changed the way athletes approached and reacted to athletic performance forever. Eight years later, as Nike continued to bring the latest scientific discoveries to footwear design, the Nike Air component became larger – meaning greater cushioning and comfort – and was made visible for the first time in the Air Max shoe: now athletes could see as well as feel the benefits of Nike Air. Many Nike Air products were developed since then and many of them grew to become icons on and off the track.

Now that is straight from SneakerNews.com but it cannot be said better. The first visible air unit to be produced on a sneaker was placed on the Air Max (87) 1. The Shoe most popular for its white/red and white/blue colorway and most importantly because the shoe was the protege of famous Air Jordan designer Tinker Hatfield. Next was the Air Max Light, followed by the Air Max 90 (Inrared), The Air Max BW (Persian), Air Max 180 (ultramarine), 95 (Neon) and the elongated air unit, Air Max 97. Missing maybe 2 or 3 other shoes from this list, That is The History of the Nike Air Max. Now does it become actual history if it is brought back to life year after year? So shouldn't this mean the famous classic 90's colorways become more Retro than actually Original......? For a shoe to remain a classic I believe it has to be a shoe that has forever been a struggle to obtain from its first release to even its next retro. This was true about the Infrared colorway used on the Air Max 90, and the neon colorway used on the 95. Both colorways have gone from classic to hyped in the last 4 years, since the release of the actual History Of Air Package. The one shoe I thought I would never see retrod again was the Wmns white/blue Air Max 1. This shoe along with the Original White/Red are dropping over Europe and the States as a quickstrike this July. SMH.

Can You Tell??

I know I have been slacking with info from Jordan Brand but what is out you don't want! It does sound pretty hypocritical but more Dub-Zero's, Team elites, AF1 fusions and a Red Bull AJ5 package does not show the best side of this year from Jordan Brand. One sneaker in particular I am upset about has to be the retro of the online exclusive nubuck 12. They are pretty on point compared to the 2003 model witch is what makes me upset! The shoe personally was one that needed another 5 years to be retro'd! The 03 original was very hyped then never seen or heard much more after. Hoping the same goes for these!

When We Last Left

As we all probably already know both Freshwater and Volt Griffeys have been released and been selling, if not already sold, across the tri state. Freshwater Air MAx 95s also made its debut packaging with the Griffeys. Both retailed at $145 but surely that did not stop fans. The Air max 95 is making alot of returns with Safety Oranges also turning up at Footlockers. The "obvious" CB94 below also sets the best standard for a good start in 09 with intricate replica retro's!

Grabbed this pic of a friend because it made me miss The Girl Of The Month Post.

When It All Falls Down

I did mention in the Original Griffey post that there would also be another colorway releasing. I did not mention which and it was not the Reds colorway before you. Another retro added to this Spring is the Royal Blue and Volt accent Griffey Max 1. Already 3 great combinations of colorways and at a perfect time in the retro game! This colorway has been listed in June to release but I suggest you take note of what happened to Fresh Waters and stack up in May.

THE KID IS BACK

Well since we last left Griffeys were due out in April, as well as fresh waters, have both dropped in the past two weeks! It seems to be April release meant March. But fear not for new sample pictures of a new Cincy colorway. The colorway is of coarse of his season with the Cincinnati Reds but does not display his season number. Regardless you can not blame the inspiration of black and red on the max 1. As jaw dropping as these look news on release has yet to spark.

SPRING 09'

In the last months we have seen some of the best basketball retro's to date including classics from Michael, Scottie, as well as Penny. Now for most this is the best start of the year that anyone could ask for! Untill you read Itsmassive! As I stated basketball retros have been towering your local sneaker shops lately but now it is time to make way for a new fit. A baseball legend and most sought after commercial sponsor, Ken Griffey Jr, is back with the Nike Air Griffey Max 1. Premiering for the first time in 1996 the hi cut signature shoe is back for its first return this Spring. The famous Mariners colorway appears yet again with our surprise of keeping hold to shades and design in the retro. The retro will also keep its retail price and should be sold as all the last releases, locally. As for the original colorway dropping there is also another release to see this summer can you guess the colorway?

The Game

I know those who have been keeping up with my blog are disappointed to read last weeks air max retro's but honestly folks there is not much new to explain. The month is January and as February is around the corner all that is expected is the anticipated eggplant foamposite and Nike Air 1/2 cent. In other news Persian BW's should be lurking around local shops soon at retail price so be aware not to give in to Ebay. Across sea's Nike has produced another Neon Air Max 95 this time in a neon yellow and will only drop as an Asia exclusive. In more Penny news the Miami Air Penny 2 colorway was spotted at a Denver Finishline this week so we tri staters should also being seeing these very soon as well. On the top of my head this is all the average sneaker consumer should already know. Should I mention the new Black History AF1 which AGAIN will not release to the public but only be sent to the utmost special black clientele. The Penny 3 is also in stores at a retail price of $140 in the solid black/blue sole colorway with the white/blue around the corner. Aside from a garage full of Jordan 1's releasing this year, Jordan brand is dead. As you look for information regarding the future of retro's you will only find pictures of the new Jordan 2009 and most of all rumors of more packages and retros of numerous classics including True Blue and white cement 3s.

95-09'!

Now If you take a look at the post before you, you will notice the Sport Red Air Max 95 which drops this fall but like I have stated the Air Max craze has just started! Along with the sport red is another new colorway in the OG grey gradient upper color up. The New Green Air Max 95. As far back as I can remember I have no thought or recollection of a grey/green 95 besides the fame neon colorway. I love the idea and the green gives it a tootpaste look in my opinion. To be honest with the grey gradient upper the 95 can pull of ANY color as accents. The New Green also hits stores this fall andIm happy to say seeing all these new colors dropping it makes me glad to see I can fall back on wearing Air Max this year than Jordan's.

Here's a peek at what you all may not know from 1995 til.

The Year Was 95'

Happy Holidays and welcome back everyone! I have been on a little vacation from Its massive but I am back and harder then ever with BANGERS for 09'. If you are a reader of Its massive then you have heard of the Chili Air Max 95, which released this past summer as a Footaction exclusive. Now that a couple months have past without a retro I would figure the Nike Air Max team would slow down but It has actually just started. They have brought back the original gradient grey upper colorway and now are releasing a similar red colorway. The Sport Red Air Max 95. Now some of you may not be able to find the difference between these and chili's but you must look a little harder. The Sport red includes the actual grey on the toe rather than the black as the Chili did. As well as the spotted laces on the Sport Red the Nike Air on the back is also the poppy red color as the Chili kept the slogan black. For those who have missed out on the Chili I highly suggest this colorway this fall but of coarse after the Safety Orange!

What Happened To What I Use To Love

It is the time of year and as many of you I am getting older and losing touch of alot of things from my past. Now although skating, WWE, and video games were not my entire childhood, it is something I have lost over the years and am anxious to see what comes next behind it. I feel as if I put the majority of things that were not important in front of me and this is why my whole life I have been stressing. Oblivious to the truth and my future, I wish I had the same eyes that I do now when I was 12 to maybe prevent such things. As everyone knows you cannot change the past but only reflect on how it has made you better. This new year my resolution is to keep clear eyes. Not lose focus so easily on the future and get my head out of mainstream. I have decided to continue to do all the things that I once loved in middle school. All the things I bragged and boasted about in my days as a child, times 2. Collecting things, just because there funny looking. Adventure, because I have the gift of legs. Appreciate music because I love every aspect of it and not because it son TV. And continue my search for the same pair of Nikes that got me suspended from school in 8Th grade.

Look Back At 3 The Hard Way

I once said it would take a Niketalker to work at Nike to get the Black/Red colorway of the Jordan 1 to retro. I have come to the conclusion that this might be true because this month Jordan Brand is releasing the colorway in its entirely, hi top and all. I still cannot believe this and it is the same reason why I waited so long to fill viewers in. The shoe will although have an extra niche to it this time around. A strap has been added to the shoe but can be removed at wearers own risk. I said to numerous people as well on ItsMassive that the low top (Bred) Jordan 1 would be the closest we will see to the 1985 original but I am happy to say I am incorrect. The shoe has been said to release in limited quantity and select retailers so I suggest those who are interested get acquainted with there local spots.

What got me kicked off of NikeTalk pt.1 The Shoe That Ruined My Life

The Penny Foamposite has always been a lost favorite of mine. Speaking I haven't own a pair since 03 I gave up on obtaining metallic blues but I am surely anticipated for eggplants next year. With that said keep in mind there is only one other Penny that I cant get over. The penny 2. Now this shoe hasn't been met any favorites with its new release this month but I am proud to say I am. After obtaining originals from 1996, the Orlando colorway has been yet again appealing to me. One of the most comfortable shoes I own to date and will always leave me story telling. I actually bought two pairs from Flightclub which somehow led to me being kicked of of NikeTalk.

Last Edited By: holdenmichael 10/25/08 6:10 AM. Edited 1 time.

For those who have the pleasure of own a pair of original shoes can vouch for me when I say It is just a match made in heaven. I hate to say it was worth it but it was definitely close. The monster mid guard, 3m lining and over sized tongue puts me in the right place at the right time.

Safely Safety!

I honestly thought and assume we wouldn't see allot of the Air Max 95 retro colorways after the footaction only release of the chili 95. After the Chili I swore I would not be satisfied unless Safety Oranges dropped and Infrared's were mine. I can now feel as if that dream is settling in for reality. The Safety Orange air max 95 will re release in the following summer months of 2009. This colorway has been long awaited since its return retro in 98' and is also more or less impossible to find this retro. Since then we have seen a premature orange colorway that held a white midsole and lighter grey accents which I actually preferred. This was dropped everywhere around 2005-2006. I can only remember the year by how many people had them in my sophomore year in high school. Although the new release of Safety's are dropping I am going to make it appointed on my self to find the white mid orange colorway. My search is on and my hopes are to obtain them before the release of the Safety in June.

Is It True..??

For the past two to three days there has been gossip everywhere of the newly linked pictures of the supposed Air Jordan 11 that will release in the Countdown pack this December. Now when I first came across these pictures something drove me as to think something was wrong. After finding out the pair listed was a youth size 7, it explained some doubt in my mind but not all. The patent leather looks off and the upper looks like a cheap canvas. Not to mention the laces looking reasonably thin and the jumpman facing the wrong way in one of the pictures, I am taking caution with these pictures. Most forum members are giving the pair the benefit of the doubt because they are youth size but I cannot settle for that. You can venture around web stores yourself but I will guarantee all you will find is the same pictures with different tags of each site they are now on. To remind all these pictures are not from a reliable source but from an Ebay auction in London with no pictures of the 12 or even the box. The style number inside the shoe does not match what is listed on Jordan's main site but yet youth sizes do not always match to the numbers. If they are in fact authentic I will be surprised and very much angry it took months for Jordan to ruin another classic.

P.S. Readers remember before you go to sleep to say your prayers for the Air Jordan 12.

KR 1love

I must say it has been quite a while that I can recall there being a Air Force 1 I have sought out for. The majority of the reason being is because of there lack of materials and colorways these past months. The last thing I can remember from Nike has to be the 1vote contest where 3 cities (Baltimore, Philadelphia, and NYC) chose out of 5000 colorways there favorite air force to re-release, and the 5 pair Canvas package a couple of months back. Something most of you didn't know is the recent drops of the 1world project. A multiple of Air Force 1's produced and designed by various artist of our day and age. Majority speaking why most of you haven't heard of such releases is because of its raise in retail price to $200 and its quality being produced and sold around the U.S. The list includes Rasheed Wallace, Questlove, Kaws, Big Boi (outcast) and Ladainian Tomlinson. Next in the line of fire is graffiti artist, KR. The 3m drip inspired shoe comes from the famous hard buff, drip, metallic KRINK ink. Especially used by the artist the shoe portrays the concept well and matches in the best color choices. There is also a black and blue colorways that will be given to friends and family of the inventor.

Penny Twos

Most of you reading are probably clueless of the Penny 2. Considering Penny Hardaway was most recognized for the foamposite and the the first penny here is a shoe that slipped through the retro list this fall. These are the Air Penny 2 from Nike and they will release TODAY at all retailers around the world for a retail price of $140. I must say as an owner of the 1996 originals I can say the comfort and sheek look of this shoe has to make it my favorite by far. Although the White/Atlantic blue will not retro both colorways have room in my closet. Be on the look out for the majority white colorway next month retailing for the same.

Black On Black was never a crime

I would always say black on black on a sneaker was never going to be appealing to me. It was only until I worked at Shoprite that I purchased a pair. I even then was still proved right but settled for a pair of black on black bakins considering I wasn't going to wear Loafers. To prove my point, in my opinion, the black cat idea from Jordan wasn't very eye lurking . Even using a chunk of the best releases the 1, 3, 4, 10 (shadow), and 20 releasing innext months Count Down Package. The white on white forces always took 1st place when back to school shopping, and sadly any other pair never took the cake. Yet here is when I must throw the crown on the 3m Air Max 95 in stores now! The solid black combination while still keeping true to all original materials dominates with its collaboration of 3m on the lower side panels of the shoe. Come to the next party in these and notice the first glare against your shoes glow.

3 the hard way

As it may look the Air Jordan 1 has been getting love from Nike headquarters this season and just when you thought they were done....BANG. The most sought out after Air Jordan has to be the Black and Red and Black and Blue Jordan 1. With its repeat of retros in the last 23 years it has still been hard for the average "sneaker head" to obtain these shoes. Well once again Jordan is making it a little bit easier for folks to finally obtain there grails. Now me and you both know they wouldn't be Jordan Brand if they released both colors this year but instead are making the fame colorways into low top. Now most of you can say it isn't the same shoe so it wont bring the same appeal but Jordan doesn't stop there. These past couple years there has been a Dunk obsession between buyers across the word and SB being one of the favorites. As they are known for there zoom air and fat tongues Jordan thought to experiment this. They have added a fat tongue to the new releases and might I say it gives it the right touch. Both colors are said to drop near December but pairs are already turning up at outlets and malls. If these catch your eye don't sleep, at a retail price of $90 it will be the best $180 you will spend on 2 pairs of Jordan 1's.

Can It be Bred?

What you are now reading is news to me folks and to be honest I'm on the fence of what to believe or not. The pictures above are indeed of the supposed up and coming black and red Air Jordan 1 retro. The news circulated earlier this month and is set to release sometime this November. Before most of you get excited you must realize these pictures do look very like the ones off of Flight Club and the tongue tag does look photoshopped from the original. Now the question is will these indeed release and if so is it like most say a flightclub/house of hoops exclusive or another flake from my good friends at ISS. Now my guess is that they will in fact not release but the rumors are just misunderstood info from the black and red Jordan 1 lows releasing this December. The product number is listed for the retro hi but I still feel it is too good to be true.

Once again Inspired

I just opened up my email not long ago before writing this and have come up with the conclusion Nike has gone mainstream. Some will agree and others will be upset that I have just now noticed. The shoes we have all came to love and behold are now antiques and jewels of our most famous and hard seeking collectors. My example is here with the newly released Court Force AJ1 inspired. Now it is not implied that they are indeed modeled after the sleek Air Jordan but by looking at the pictures above you can come up with your own analysis. Over the past months we here at Itsmassive have shown you the lengths to resembling that Nike has gone too. The air max inspired Court forces prove that this here release is also a replica of such. Some may even say it is not the Air Jordan 1 that they model but the almost untouchable Air Max 97. My point is that the models being remodeled and re put are never going to match its original but with the average buyer nowadays seeing what they look like will sweep them off shelves before knowing what they really are.

Now For August (CDP)

The air Jordan V has been a favorite from Jordan fans all over for years on and to come since its first release in 1990. If not one of the best, next to the best with its string of famous colorways including the Grape, Laser, Laney, and Fire red combinations. This august the Air Jordan 5 is set to release again with its matching pair the 18 in the August Collezione package. The XVIII will release in its new bred, Black nubuck upper and red bubble, colorway which will also include a brush and towel as it did during its first release to help treat the suede like upper. As for the 5 something surprising from Jordan brand, a PE (player exclusive) from Michael Jordan himself. Mostly everyone knows the 5 was one Jordan that started to stitch the signature players number on the heel of the shoe with some incoming retro's later in the years. But one thing that you don't know is that this all started with Michael adding it to his pair of White, black and fire reds in 91'. As the picture above pair sits in Chicago you can all get a piece of this legacy come the 23rd when they release.
